After a long winter, the weather is finally warming up. You’re ready to get outside – maybe hit some hiking trails or play with your kids in the park. If you’ve spent most of your winter workouts at a traditional gym this winter, your body could be in for a nasty surprise. Unlike the linear, controlled movements of barbell lifting and treadmill running, hiking or playing outside involves a wider range of motion. If you’re not prepared, you could easily get injured, even if you’ve been keeping up with your fitness goals over the winter.
At 3 Elements we look at fitness a little differently. Here’s how we can help you get the most out of your summer.
• Fitness. 3 Elements Lifestyle focuses on functional movement instead of barbell or dumbbell training to make sure our clients have the strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination to handle real situations in their lives. Where other gyms just focus on getting you to pick up a bigger weight in their facility than you did last week, we want you to be able to get out and enjoy your life without getting injured or feeling fatigued.
• Nutrition. You can’t play like a kid again if you’re not properly fueled. But the last thing you want to do when the sun is shining is sit at home carefully planning out every meal. 3 Elements Lifestyle won’t just give you a long list of “bad food” and hope you can feed yourself within our “rules”. We will show you the general guidelines of a great diet and how to make good decisions about food in the moment, so you can spend more time worrying about which trail to take and less about whether or not you’ll be home in time to make the perfect dinner.
• Recovery. The third element in the 3 Elements Lifestyle is just as important as the first two, especially in avoiding injuries, but most traditional gyms ignore it. Recovery involves getting enough sleep and drinking enough water so you’re fully refreshed from the previous day’s activities. It also helps you avoid muscle strain and even injuries through foam rolling and yoga. The last thing you want on a beautiful summer day is to be stuck inside with muscle pain!
